Enrichment

First Federation Trust Enrichment Offer

If a child spends their educational primary journey in one of our schools, they will have the opportunity to experience events outside of their time in the classroom. We believe in providing wider opportunities for the children in our care that complement their educational experiences.

During their time in school our children will have the opportunity to -

  • Perform in a setting outside of the school building

  • Participate in a musical performance

  • Participate in an art exhibition

  • Watch a musical/drama production performed by professionals

  • Participate in a sporting event held outside of the school premises

  • Perform in the local community to support an event or facility e.g. care home

  • Learn a musical instrument

  • Participate in inter-school sports events (FFT and local schools)

Each school will also have its individual offer that will be appropriate for the context and geography of the school. Schools will provide enrichment times where the children will have the opportunity to work outside of the usual classroom curriculum.

We are happy to signpost children to local clubs, facilities etc if they are showing a particular interest or skill in the field of sport, art and music.

Axminster Community Primary Academy Enrichment Offer

In addition to Development Matters and the National Curriculum, we set out a bespoke Axminster Enrichment Offer. It aims to give every pupil an exciting, enriching programme that enables them to try a range of experiences and DREAM BIG.

These experiences broaden our children’s education and give them chances to try different opportunities. It aims to offer an equity of experiences that will allow each child to explore and investigate the world in all its richness. There is a breadth and diversity planned into our offer that aims to inspire and excite. Our aim is that every child leaves us with a BIG DREAM, an intrinsic motivation to learn and make a positive contribution to our community.

During their time in school our children will have the opportunity to -

  • Take part in our Friday enrichment programme - a chance to choose their own club each half term to develop their interests and skills

  • Meet a farmer, a police officer and  a fireman to learn about people who help us

  • Visit the Minster Church in Axminster

Enrichment

Enrichment Clubs: Opportunities for Every Child

At our school, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to discover new interests, develop new skills and experience activities beyond the traditional curriculum.

We recognise that not all children are able to attend after-school clubs. For this reason, we have made our enrichment programme an integral part of the school day. Every Friday afternoon, our children take part in a 45-minute Enrichment Club.

Led by our teachers and teaching assistants, these sessions give children the opportunity to try something new, discover talents and interests, develop confidence and independence, and learn skills that they can carry with them beyond the classroom.

Our programme offers a rich and varied range of experiences, including:

Autumn 1

This half term children can pick from activities such as:

๐Ÿ”ฌ Science Club – investigating, experimenting, solving problems and discovering how the world works.

๐ŸŽถ Choir – developing confidence, teamwork and a love of music through singing together.

๐ŸŒฟ Wild Tribe – exploring the outdoors, developing practical skills and connecting with nature.

๐ŸŒฑ Gardening Club – growing, planting and caring for living things while learning about the natural world.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Construction Club – designing, building, testing and developing creativity and problem-solving skills.

๐Ÿ’ƒ Dance Club – developing movement, rhythm, self-expression and confidence.

๐ŸคŸ Sign Language Club – learning a new way to communicate and developing awareness of and respect for others.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italian Club – discovering a new language and culture in an engaging and practical way.

๐Ÿ”จ DIY Skills – developing practical, useful skills and the confidence to have a go, make, fix and create.

๐Ÿงต Sewing Club – learning practical sewing skills while developing creativity, concentration and perseverance.

Our Enrichment Clubs are about providing children with meaningful opportunities to discover what they enjoy. Children learn to challenge themselves, work with others and develop the confidence to try something they may never have experienced before.

We are particularly proud that our enrichment programme is inclusive by design - these opportunities take place providing during the school day meaning all children can take part.

Through our Enrichment Clubs, we aim to help every child discover a new interest, a new skill, a new talent or simply something that makes them smile.
